Book of Hours
This art piece was made by Alice Orleman, a 1999 SFA graduate. ​She based this work on an illuminated manuscript from the 14th century that describes the creation of light and spheres. The sculpture is located at the elevator alcove on the 7th floor.
Once, while heading for the elevator, I came across a woman admiring this thought-provoking work. Despite my tendencies toward impertinent commentary, I offered this stranger a sincere appreciation.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" I asked.
"Oh I think so too!" she nodded, smiling. "My daughter is the artist who made it."
